- Pioneer Inno2 Portable XM2go Satellite Radio with MP3 Player -

The satellite radio market is starting to stabilize with both XM and Sirius offering comparable hardware and pricing. Now the content is a totally different story without even mentioning Howard Stern so we won't offer any advice as to which service you will prefer for your listening pleasure.

We will however make a recommendation based on you how you will be listening to your music. We have yet to hear a difference between the radio receivers as they all sound mediocre at best based on the music's low bit rate. With this in mind it comes down to whether you want to be able to listen to your music on the go or not. If so pick one of the portable models like the XM Inno2 ($299 less rebates). If not drop all the way to down to one of the least expensive model such as the Sirius Stratus ($59).

The portables also include storage for recording content and playing your own music tracks so if you don't have a MP3 player the increased cost might be offset by the additional benefits. Although our recommendation is pick a service and then pick the player with the best rebate since at the end of the day they all sound the same and regardless of their features you'll be using it to listen to satellite radio. If not you will be much better off purchasing a dedicated music player.
