Hitachi 37HLX99

If you're a sports junkie Hitachi's Director's Series 37HLX99 ($2,499) and its 37 inch 1366 x 768p 120 Hz LCD panels will justify the additional cost over most of its rivals. By doubling the refresh rate the image stays extremely sharp during fast motion and creates a life-like image where the other sets turn blurry when the action picks up.

Other features include a remote controlled power swivel stand, support for CableCARDs and extensive image controls. Throw in three HDMI inputs and you have one nice set that's sure to keep up for years to come.

Throw in PC compatibility and two HDMI inputs and you're guaranteed a premium experience whether you are enjoying a movie or gaming.

Toshiba TX-S3093WH

At 16.3 inches deep this 30 inch CRT HDTV isn't thin or light at 117 lbs but it does boast one of the best images you'll find. The Samsung TX-T3093WH ($699) continues the CRT traditional of having unbeatable black levels and an overall image that arguably has never been matched by even the latest and greatest digitals.

With built-in ATSC and NTSC tuners, and two HDMI inputs it functions very nicely in today's digital world. This years' model of the industry's best selling CRT will be available in April.
